Split Urad Dal, or white lentils, is rich in dietary fibre, protein, folic acid, calcium potassium, iron, B vitamins, and minerals. Foods rich in fibre can aid in weight loss, control blood sugar and lower cholesterol. Urad Dal is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties.
Soaking grains and legumes for 6-12 hours is essential for optimal absorption and digestion. After soaking, add water and pressure cook or simmer until cooked. Urad Dal is used to make vada, idlis and dosas and is also an important ingredient in tempering for most south Indian dishes. Ground urad dal is also used as a facial scrub or mask to improve complexion and treat sunburn and acne.
