Green Moong dal, or split green gram, is a great source of protein, fibre and Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K and calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, zinc, copper and manganese. Foods rich in fibre can aid in weight loss, control blood sugar and lower cholesterol.
Green Moong dal also contains phytoestrogens with skin anti-ageing properties.
Soaking grains and legumes for 6-12 hours is essential for optimal absorption and digestion. After soaking, add water and pressure cook or simmer until cooked. Green Moong dal is used to make khichdi, dal, barfi, payasam and other sweets.
