Chana dal, or Split Bengal Gram, is delicious, nutritious and easily digested. Rich in fibre, zinc, folate, calcium and protein, chana dal can aid in weight loss, control blood sugar and lower cholesterol.
Soaking grains and legumes for 6-12 hours is essential for optimal absorption and digestion. After soaking, add water and pressure cook or simmer until cooked. Chana Dal is used in soups, salads, curries, dals, savouries, sweets and rice dishes. The legumes are also roasted and powdered into chickpea flour (besan).
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place.
